THE new outdoor season got off to a flying start at Overbury.
The club opened their green and then held an open day where 18 newcomers tried their hand at lawn bowls.
Having enjoyed their taster session, many have now returned for more coaching and taken up membership.
After trying bowls on the club's stall at Winchcombe Show in 2017, a number returned and joined the club this year.
Overbury will run another stall at the 2018 show on August bank holiday Monday.
In the South Worcestershire Triples League, Overbury A beat Evesham B 86-28 in cold conditions and aim to improve on second place over the last two years.
Mike Ames, Mike Mace and Bruce Hayward scored 13 shots over the last three ends while Albert England, Phil Harrison and Dan Mason pulled off a six late on.
The B team ran Evesham A close but lost despite Dave Jones, Pete Jones and Chris Carter drawing and Tim Morgan, Maurice Megginson and Roger Hewitt going close.
