THE Damned United, which plays at the Number 8 Arts Centre, Pershore, tomorrow, tells the story of Brian Clough's doomed 40-four day tenure as manager of Leeds United. Adapted from David Pearce’s best-selling novel, it stars Michael Sheen as Clough, who takes over as Leeds manager from bitter rival Don Revie (Colm Meaney) in 1974. Taking on ‘Don’s boys’, whose style of football repells him, and without Peter Taylor (Timothy Spall) his trusted right-hand man at his side, the job becomes a test of Clough’s brilliance and belligerence.
