FIFTEEN Evesham crews tackled the British Rowing Junior Championships at Nottingham's National Water Sports Centre.

They competed against 111 schools and clubs from across the country at the three-day regatta.

On the first day J14 rowers competed as singles or doubles in an omnium event testing a range of technical skills followed by side-by-side races.

In their singles Ollie Parr and Sam McClenahan took on 74 others with the latter 35th and together they were 18th in the doubles.

Doubles Emma Parkin with Liv Evans and Sacha Wilson with Lucy Jo Weston came 18th and 28th respectively in a field of 62.

On the second and third days J15 to J18s competed in time trials down the six-lane 2,000-metre course leading to semi-finals and finals.

WJ14 quad Olivia Evans, Parkin, Rachel Egan and Wilson, coxed by Martha Bradley, were fourth in their E final just six seconds behind the winners.

WJ15 quad Poppy Cullen, Charlie Akerman, Georgie Banton and Martha Robbins, coxed by Emilia Farrell, came fourth in their D final eight seconds adrift.

In the same age group, Bradley, Kate Dufty, Suki Glockling and Isla Grelak, coxed by Parkin, were 33rd overall.

WJ15 double Katie Ham and Emily Jones finished fourth in their B final improving on their time trial placings to come 10th overall in a tough category.

WJ16 quad Becca Parkin, Evie Nutton, Hannah Jones and Ella Shalom were fourth in their A final beaten only by Henley, Marlow and Scotland’s composite quad.

In their fourth race of the day, Shallom and Becca Parkin did their WJ16 double taking second in their B final.

WJ18 double Maddy Cross and Kate Unwin came fifth in their C final.

In the J15 singles Duncan Repton was third in his C final and McClenahan, racing up a year, came fifth in his E final.
