EVESHAM United continued their 2018 unbeaten run and moved up to fourth in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One West with a 1-0 home win over Paulton Rovers.

Paul Collicutt's Robins started the game by far the strongest as Paulton struggled to get any possession at the Jubilee Stadium.

After just 10 minutes, forwards Adam Mann and Lewis Powell linked up well before Mat Liddiard slotted the loose ball past keeper Andrew Hannah for what turned out to be the only goal.

The pace of the game slowed down following a fast-paced opening period.

On the half-hour mark, a Jordan Bryan cross found Powell whose bullet header was turned around the post by Hannah.

Bryan and Powell combined again in first-half injury-time but the latter could not get his head onto another superb cross.

Paulton started the second half the better but it did not take Evesham too long to get back on their game.

In the 50th minute, a Powell shot that looked goalbound was blocked by the visitors' Kyle Knott.

Powell was thwarted again a few minutes later when Lewis Binns ran down the left and his cross found the forward's head only for the ball to be cleared off a crowded goal-line.

Evesham kept on applying the pressure and substitute Carl Brown brought another save from Hannah following a solo breakaway.

Just 10 minutes later, the visiting keeper yet again denied Brown.

In the final few nervy minutes, Evesham's Aysa Corrick evaded the opposition and found Mann whose shot was smothered once again by Hannah who had been the busiest player on the pitch.

Paulton were reduced to 10 men in the 90th minute when Liam Monelle received his second yellow card, this time for simulation.

Centre-half Andy Lewis, signed from Cinderford Town, made his Robins debut with Will Wellon back in defence after returning from North Leigh.
