PERSHORE'S 131-run win over Aston Manor took them above Worcestershire rivals Astwood Bank in Birmingham and District Cricket League Division Three.

Bank went down to a five-wicket defeat at fourth-placed Streetly.

Pershore’s total of 248-6 was built around a solid unbeaten 110 from Adam Wiffen with Taylor Pugh adding 54 not out at the end in an unbroken stand of 118 for the seventh wicket.

Imran Khan took 3-63 for Manor, who crashed to 117 all out after tea with Matt Brace taking 4-23.

A century from Steve Adshead (105) and a half-century from Tom Pedley (57) took Bank to 250-8 but the return of Michael Dinneny (5-39) to the attack kept the home side’s total within bounds.

Streetly then raced to victory in 46.3 overs thanks to 75 from Sean Dunne, 57 from Imran Qadir and 48 from Craig Moore.

The match between Newport and Eastnor was restricted to 35 overs per side after torrential morning rain in Shropshire with the home side reaching 171-8.

Rajat Bhatia led the way with 57 but they were denied a victory by the visitors, who finished on 96-7.

Jabran Khalid hit 49 for Eastnor, while Mark Downes was the pick of the Newport bowlers with 4-16.
