EVESHAM ladies held their midsummer madness competition with eight teams of three competing.

They turned up at 4.30am for 18 holes stableford with the best two scores to count. 

In constant drizzle, the winners with 74 points were Ian Tait, Penny Osborne and Dinah Wood, who each claimed a basket of fruit.

Close on their tail with 72 on count-back were Mel Evans, Ken Hunt and Angela Budden, who won strawberries and asparagus.

Third-placed Grantham Speake and Carol Yates received strawberries.

Thirty-two ladies played in the medal on a calm, warm day when the competition scratch score was raised to 75.  Ruth Masters won Division One with 76 nett, including an eagle on the 14th hole, ahead of Lesley Curnock on 79.

Division Two went to Carolyn Washbourne with 76 followed by Jill Cleary with 79.

Sandra Insall topped Division Three in front of Patsy Brumage with both on 80.
