THE Pershore Tennis Centre team are celebrating a great start to the new year with ace junior results.
Young Caoimhe Guppy played in a grade three regional level orange tournament for nine and unders in Shrewsbury.
Guppy won through three rounds of matches to reach the final and went on to play superb tennis to beat the number one seed Mingge Xu, from Swansea, 7-5, 7-3.
In the same tournament, Pershore’s Briony Dando lost her first-round match and went into the consolation draw.
Dando, however, claimed her next three matches and won the consolation draw.
In the near future, Guppy is playing in another grade three competition and is hoping to be accepted for her second national grade two event in Roehampton.
