NAUNTON Downs seniors kicked off their 2015 season with a pairs better-ball stableford on a spring-like day.
Scores were good with the best being B Morgan and B Peters with 48 points.
Second after countback were A Hulm and T Aldridge with 45 ahead of V Coles and D Armstrong.
In a Texas scramble, the rain held off until the last of 13 teams finished.
Winners by a margin were Morgan, T Davis, G Willmott and J Brennan with nett 52.4 ahead of R Small, B Cretney, A Pinder and A Jarvis (55.3) and C Davis, M Hirst, B Field and T Newdeck (56.5).
New seniors’ captain Gervase McKinley took 32 stalwarts to Sapey, Worcestershire, for a nine-hole, par-three pairs competition and an individual stableford over 18 holes on the main course.
Winners of the morning’s pairs were N Dummett and P Barton and the victor over 18 holes was M Hirst.
The best front and back nines went to G Baker and J Barnett respectively. Nearest the pin was M Gaut and the longest drive was by Willmott.
