EMMA Taylor and partner Martyn Canning hit top gear to win a clutch of trophies in the fifth round of the UK Autograss Championships.

Canning achieved a clean sweep in a memorable weekend of racing at Stroud.

He had three heat wins, took the leading male driver honour and triumphed in the champions of champions event.

Taylor secured two wins and a second-placed finish in her heats, won the women’s final and then took the runner-up spot in the champions of champions battle.

It was only the Evesham couple’s second time competing in the Nissan Micra, which they bought a few months ago.

“It was a great way to finish off the season,” said Taylor.

“I raced in a class one k11 Micra all season and this was my second time out in the class 2.”

She added: “We will be racing in the British Autograss Series next season which will be starting in April and involving five rounds.”

The couple are members of the Evesham Autograss Club.

Canning comes from a prolific racing family and has many titles in the family name.

He won junior nationals at the age of 16, the MAP class 2 title, the champion of champions, and was second at the nationals.

He has also scooped many club and league titles in his career. The couple thank Eddie’s Autos in Beckford for their continued support.
