EVESHAM United remain without a home win in the Southern League Division One South & West after a 2-2 draw against North Leigh.

It was another disappointing display from Evesham in front of their home supporters.

And the woodwork came to Evesham’s aid with the last kick of the match.

The Robins twice battled back to level but are without a league victory in four attempts at the Jubilee Stadium. But it’s a different story for Paul Collicutt’s side on the road.

Evesham are unbeaten in five games on their travels and this will give Collicutt a lot of confidence for the future.

Key players Marcus Jackson, Linden Dovey and striker Ashley Edenborough all missed Saturday’s match as they attempt to recover from injuries in time for United’s important FA Cup tie at Southern League Premier Division outfit Histon on Saturday.

North Leigh started the better of the two sides in last weekend’s match and should have taken an early lead.

Morgan Williams got clear of the Evesham defence but pulled his shot wide with only keeper Kevin Sawyer to beat.

North Leigh continued to press and were rewarded for a positive start by taking a 19th-minute lead. Will Wellon made a clumsy challenge on the edge of the box and Stuart Hole stepped up to give Sawyer no chance with a well-struck free kick.

The visitors’ lead lasted until two minutes before half-time when Aaron Drake got on the edge of George Washbourne’s free kick to head home the equaliser beyond Miller’s stopper Matt Bulman.

Sloppy defending allowed North Leigh to re-take the lead just past the hour mark.

Callum McNish accepted the gift which had been presented to him by Evesham’s defence with a simple finish from close range.

United upped their game after this, Washbourne had his drive deflected over and Matt Sysum’s header from Lewis Binns’ corner flew just wide.

Evesham continued to rally and grabbed a second equaliser with nine minutes left. Cheltenham Town loanee Harry Williams made no mistake with a first-time finish after good work by Carl Brown down the left.

United threw everything at the visitors to get a winner. Bulman made excellent saves to deny Sysum and Washbourne. But the visitors were denied by the woodwork when McNish thumped a shot against a post.
