A CAR fire caused heavy traffic along the M42 southbound near Redditch.
The vehicle caught fire earlier this morning (Monday) between junction 2 for the A441, Alvechurch and Redditch, and junction 1 for the A38/B4096 Bromsgrove.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the blaze at around 7.20am, while one lane was shut.
Highways England has warned that delays stretch back to junction 3, however all lanes are now back open.
Fire crews from Bromsgrove and Redditch attended the scene.
A spokesman said: "The fire in the engine compartment has now been extinguished using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet."
