IT was a case of doctor's orders when one Redditch chip shop owner decided to start offering cholesterol-lowering vinegar to his customers.
Inn Plaice chip shop in Evesham Road was visited by medical journalist Michael Mosley and other presenters from Trust Me, I'm a Doctor on August 12.
The programme investigates health claims made in the media, and the episode featuring Inn Plaice looks into the health benefits of using apple cider vinegar, particularly a product from Tardebigge Cider.
After the filming, Loizos Theodorou, aged 56, decided to start stocking the product himself as an alternative to malt vinegar and is now holding a trial in his shop, with the hope of continuing providing it in the future.
He said: "If you use apple cider vintage it will reduce cholesterol by a large amount and it will help people.
"It was very exciting to have them come into my shop. I think it may increase footfall because when people see it on the TV they want to try it themselves.
"They filmed for about three and half hours."
Recently, filming for the Channel 4 television series How to Lose Weight Well also took place in the shop after two of his customers applied to the show. This will be broadcast in January.
The new series of the show will start BBC Two on Thursday, September 1, it is thought the episode starring the shop will be aired in the next couple of weeks.
