A SUMMER exhibition taking place this weekend will be showcasing just what Blockley has to offer.
Many of the 50 or so societies and voluntary organisations in Blockley parish will be displaying something of their history and their current activities at this year’s annual exhibition arranged by Blockley Heritage Society.
The exhibition “Blockley at Leisure” takes place on Saturday (August 23) at Blockley Heritage Centre, off Park Road, between 10am and 5pm.
Among societies expecting to be represented is the Blockley Horticultural Society, whose Summer Show will be taking place concurrently in the adjacent St George’s Hall.
Other participants will include Blockley Art Society, Blockley Bell Ringers, Blockley Blokes Choir, Blockley Brass Band, Blockley Brooks Action Group, Blockley Picture Playhouse, Blockley Sports and Social Club, Blockley WI, Cakes and Company, Blockley Little Village Hall, Northwick Bowling Club and many others.
Documents, artefacts and memorabilia relating to societies that are no longer in existence will also be on display.
Shortly after the exhibition, Blockley Heritage Society will be publishing a new guide describing 13 “Heritage Rambles” around the parish.
The guidebook has been produced in partnership with Blockley Ramblers and contains not only route instructions and newly created maps, but also a companion narrative describing heritage features to look out for on each walk.
The guide will be available from Blockley Shop and Café in a few weeks’ time and may also be ordered from the Heritage Society via its website www.blockley-heritagesoc.co.uk/publications.
