OUTLINE plans for a continuing care retirement development in Stow have been recommended for approval.
Cotswold District Council's planning committee is due to discuss the plans at its meeting on Wednesday.
Applicant ECVP (Stow) Ltd intends to build a core building including 24 care bedrooms, 27 close care units and 65 linked and detached assisted living units on land adjacent to Bretton House, Station Road.
The application is opposed by Stow Town Council which questions the need for this type of development in the town as well as concerns about the effect on the highway which looks "inoperable and dangerous".
Eighteen letters of objection have also been received.
Case officer Andrew Moody has recommended granting delegated permission subject to receiving comments from the tree officer, highways and the completion of a section 106 legal agreement.
