SHIPSTON and Bidford's MP Nadhim Zahawi has welcomed new government figures showing a fall in recorded crime in Warwickshire.

The figures show recorded crime in the county fell by eight per cent from September 2012 to September 2013.

There were particularly sharp drops in robbery (-18 per cent), burglary (-15 per cent) and public order offences (-18 per cent).

It follows a 10 per cent drop in crime across the country, according to latest figures from the Crime Survey of England and Wales.

“I am delighted that we are seeing crime fall, not just here in Warwickshire but across the country," said Mr Zahawi.

"I'd like to congratulate the police on the fantastic job they do, everyone in Warwickshire Police should be rightly proud of this achievement."
