THIS Sunday, December 11, sees the Annual Christmas Service at the Cross of Sacrifice in Pershore Cemetery. This is very much a youth led event with the lead being taken by the Sea Cadets, Army Cadets & Air Cadets. Poppy Crosses will be laid at each and every war grave in the Cemetery as well as other graves of those that gave their lives in the service of their country outside war times. The Royal British Legion Pershore & District, together with the Women’s Section, Royal British Legion and Pershore & District Royal Naval Association will be in attendance to show their support for the youth in this event.

While there aren’t any bands or march pasts, this is a moving event that shows Pershore’s thanks for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom that many, perhaps too many today, take for granted. Many of the war graves are of you men from Canada who, although their country wasn’t in immediate risk, chose to fight the evil that was Nazi Germany and were killed flying from RAF Pershore. It is important that their relatives know that, in this most family time of year, they are not forgotten. Many of the young men buried there are only a year or two older than the cadets who are laying the Poppy Crosses on their graves.

The Service starts at 10.45 and all members of the public are welcome to attend.
