AN outstanding display of bulbs, spring flowers and miniature gardens greeted the many visitors to Inkberrow and District's Spring Show which was held at Inkberrow Village Hall on Saturday, March 7.

The display tables were full of the sights and scents of spring, collections of spring flowers and a wonderful section of miniature gardens made by the children at Fun Club.

Judge Ron Lloyd of Blockley praised the quality and quantity of the exhibits saying they were the best he had seen for some years and he was very impressed.

Chairman, Celia Montreal, who took over the role from Gareth Edwards at the last AGM welcomed everyone and thanked Gareth for all his hard work and commitment over the eight years he served as chairman and Mrs Pat Atkin who had retired as president also after many years of supporting the Society.

She thanked all those who had been involved in preparing the show especially the committee members who had had a very early start that morning to set up the show room, and Maureen and Eileen for the refreshments.

The number of exhibitors had seen an almost 100 per cent increase from 11 last year to 21 this time, a most encouraging sign for the society.

She then introduced Tom Hodgkinson, a long term member of the Society Chairman who had succeeded Mrs Pat Atkin as President.

Tom then presented the cups; Fred Hunt winning both the Ansell Challenge Cup for most points in the bulb section with John Davies and Pam Welsh second and third, and the Society Challenge Cup for most points in the show with John Davies again second and Celia Montreal third. John Davies won the Seymour Memorial Trophy for Best in Show with a beautiful white Amaryllis. Last but by no means least Amy Rae's miniature garden won first prize.

The show closed with the raffle.
