Our November meeting was well attended and we welcomed three visitors into our midst. We were in for a different type of evening as we had a go at baking, making and cooking our own Indian meal. Under the watchful eye of Jenny, who had recently attended an Indian cooking course at the WI Denman College, various ingredients were mixed, cooked and prepared in various ways to eventually produce pakoras, cumin fried rice, chicken makhanwala, spiced onion raita, masoor dahl and peshwari naans. The smells in the village hall were enticing and perhaps the best part was trying the dishes once they were ready. An excellent night.

Reminders were given regarding the two skittle matches coming before the next meeting and the Christmas Lunch at the Bell Inn, as well as an invitation to consider attending the Tea Tents Festival next year.

The December meeting is a party night for members only but we will warmly welcome visitors again on January 7 when our first meeting in 2015 will be an evening with Paul Harding to “Discover History”. Paul is part of a small, friendly team of professional historical interpreters who like to concentrate on providing historical accuracy and authenticity through demonstrating the personal lives of how our ancestors lived, worked and enjoyed their pastimes.
