THE Ladies Guild have enjoyed a two month break from the regular formal meetings.

In July we enjoyed a Victorian Tea Party at St Andrews Hall, the usual afternoon tea fare, all home baked cakes and scones served on China crockery that many of us have stored in our cupboards, but, certainly in my case hardly use. An excellent afternoon socialising.

July saw us heading to the Kettle Sings in Malvern where we had lunch. Unfortunately the weather decided not to play the game and we saw very little of the beautiful view we should have seen.

David Howe was a welcome speaker on Tuesday where his subject was Partners of Prime Ministers. Obviously he couldn’t tell us about them all as there have been 54 Prime Ministers, but he did give us an incite into how some aspects of their partners lives could be affected. Very little notice is given for moving in to No 10, no security for their partners, therefore big shock for Norma Major after election to find her house surrounded by press and no security to protect her. David also told us several stories about earlier Prime Ministers which were very interesting and some quite amusing.

Another excellent talk David thank you.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 7 at 2pm at The Civic Centre where our speaker will talk to us about The Ifakara Bakery Project.

The ladies continue to meet on the third Tuesday of the month to play skittles at The Sports Centre in Defford Road .

If you are new to the area and are free First Tuesday of the month we would be very happy to see you.
