POLICE investigating a single-vehicle crash on the M5 in Gloucestershire in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, December 28) are trying to trace the driver.
The collision happened at about 3am in the southbound carriageway between junctions 9 (Tewkesbury/Evesham) and 10 (Cheltenham).
A silver Mercedes E220 left the road and collided with a barrier on the nearside before going back across the carriageway to the central reservation.
The driver left the scene and, despite a search involving a police dog and helicopter, has not been located.
Officers are concerned that the driver may have sustained serious injuries which may require medical attention.
The road was closed for investigation and vehicle recovery.
Officers would like the driver to come forward, or to hear from anyone who saw the vehicle on the M5 or has seen anyone who looks as if they may have been injured in a collision.
