IT was Grandparents Day at Dormer House School and all the children delighted in presenting their audience with a historical journey across the ages - a Time Travellers lesson for their senior family members.

First there was the age of the Dinosaur (ably presented by the Reception class).

Then came The Egyptians (Year 1), followed by the Vikings (year 2), The Middle Ages (Year 3), The Tudors (Year 4).

The pupils from year 5 represented The Victorians and recited the famous poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson, ‘The Charge of the Light Brigade' whilst dressed in character.

Finally, the 20th century, was depicted by Year 6, which particularly resonated with the audience, many of whom had lived through a large part of this era.

These children had chosen famous people, who had impressed sufficiently for them to undertake their own research, write their own script and provide the appropriate costume.

The characters chosen to depict this period in time varied tremendously and included Marie Curie, Emily Pankhurst, Sir Winston Churchill, Sir Bobby Moore and finally The Spice Girls.
