BEAUTICIANS and hairdressers from Shipston have smashed the target they wanted to reach during a marathon fundraising effort for the Midlands Air Ambulance charity.
The staff at L'Academie, run by Sylvie Brown, hoped to raise £1,700 which is the approximate cost for each callout. The charity receives no funding and relies totally on donations, independent fundraising and bequests to raise the £6.5 million needed to keep airborne each year.
Hairdresser Bea Payne said the salon had organised a hairathon on Good Friday when the cost of a salon treatment was donated by the customer to the charity fund. There was also a raffle that local businesses had donated prizes to.
All the staff worked for free that day and their efforts raised £4831.85.
