Sunday, June 18 on Charlton Village Green saw a collection of people and animals celebrating together in glorious sunshine. This was our Pet Service organised and led by Sue Hiscocks and attended by almost 50 two legged and quite a few four legged creatures. The four legged variety included two horses, they enjoyed grazing on the green. Dogs of many different sizes behaved impeccably and some even joined in the singing. Poems were read by young people from the village, songs were sung and three intrepid gentlemen, accompanied on guitar by Sue Hall, gave us their rendition of “The Animals Went in Two by Two”. The pets and a photo of a pet cat were blessed by Reverend Sarah Dangerfield and received a certificate for the blessing. We hope that this becomes an annual event to follow the Charlton Country Fayre that was held on Saturday 17.
