THE Cotswolds’ Irene Tyack will donate four of her famous Yellow Hat Tribe pictures to Helen and Douglas House to raise funds for the charity providing hospice care for terminally ill children.
The limited-edition prints will feature in themed window displays, which Irene will help dress, at the charity’s shop in West Street, Chipping Norton on four busy Saturdays during a different season of the year.
Spring’s picture, called Zebra Gold Cup, will be displayed on Monday, March 1 to celebrate Cheltenham Festival’s horse races.
This print will be will raffled on Saturday, March 13, with Irene pulling the winning ticket out of a yellow hat at the end of the day’s trading.
Summer’s picture will be Retreat - a day at the seaside with beach huts and deck chairs and autumn’s will be Apple Pickers - harvesting and hiking, while winter’s will be Masterpiece - glad rags and ball gowns for festive celebrations.
All proceeds will go to the charity, which runs two hospices in Oxford.
Irene - based at Brookfield Ostrich Farm Gallery, Church Westcote - began painting commercially at the age of 50 after doodling on the envelope of a bill she could not afford to pay and drawing a picture of a desert-dwelling tribe all wearing yellow hats.
A decade on, she has sold 60 of her Yellow Hat Tribe pictures for up to £20,000 each.
