Primary school children are set to share their perchance for art in a Stow-on-the-Wold-themed competition.

Pupils from Stow-on-the-Wold Primary School are preparing to demonstrate their artistic talents by participating in the 'LOVE Stow' art contest.

This initiative is in collaboration with Beechwood Park, a Brio Retirement Living development in the town.

Art contests are expected to become a regular event between the staff teams from the two teams.

The youngsters are encouraged to harness a variety of art materials to illustrate the spots they cherish most in Stow-on-the-Wold.

Elle Gower, retirement living advisor at Beechwood Park said: "Stow-on-the-Wold Primary School has a wonderful relationship with both our staff and residents, and we thought it a wonderful idea to ask the children to share our mutual love of Stow via artwork."

"We can't wait to see how our beloved area is seen through the eyes of little ones.

"The teachers have been extremely supportive, and the competition comes with some great prizes for the winners."

Ms Gower added: “Although all the entrants will be winners in our eyes, there will be prizes on offer for first, second and third place.

"All winners will be presented with creative art-sets and the overall first place child will also receive a voucher for a meal to enjoy with their parents, grandparents or carers at our onsite Slate & Grain brasserie, bar and coffee lounge."

Rebecca Scutt, headteacher at the school, said: "Our year six pupils already have a strong relationship with Beechwood Park through other creative endeavours.

"All the children here are already planning their masterpieces and we’re working hard on them during class."

The children's artwork will be exhibited at Beechwood Park, starting on February 20 for one week, with people in the area invited to visit.
