A PUB landlord has hit back at "freeloaders" who constantly complain to get free food.

Sid Collins, the owner of The Trumpet Inn in Evesham, said the pub would not accept people coming in for free food after he stood up for the watering hole on social media.

A customer had left the pub, which has an average 4.5/5 rating on Google, a one-star review and complained about the quality of the food and the service.

But, Mr Collins said the pair used to come into the pub regularly, order the same food and then complain to get items for free.

The reviewer wrote: "Don't ever go here they are very rude staff rubbish quality food and beer. Ordered two steak pies which were so chewy we could not eat.

Mr Collins claims the couple tried to get free food so often he had to ban them from the premises, and the bad review was written after he turned them away.

In response to the review, he wrote: "The fact you didn't get a meal because we banned you months ago says everything, every time you came in, you complained just to try and get a free meal, to turn this around, we advise all pubs in the Evesham's area not to serve her and her partner because all they want is a freebie."

He added: "If I go into a place and it's not good, I won't go in and order the very same meal again.

"I stood up for the pub. If once in a while, I would understand, but I thought 'no way am I going to accept this'.

"If we make a mistake, then fair enough, we are happy to refund on a meal or a pudding, and we always have done. 

"If it was also a fair review, I would have said thanks.

"At the end of the day, we are a business, and we are not there to give out free food."
