Sainsbury’s has welcomed customers back to its Witney supermarket on Black Friday following a temporary closure.

The mayor of Witney Owen Collins joined colleagues and customers to celebrate the relaunch of the store, with six of Sainsbury’s Witney’s longest-serving colleagues cutting the ribbon to declare it open again.

The store, which closed on November 11 for finishing touches, has been given a new look in response to feedback from customers.

New lines in the store include a Kitchen Deli, a new speciality ready meal range, new cheese and charcuterie displays with speciality cheeses and continental meats, a refreshed Sushi counter with hot and cold Japanese-inspired dishes and a new department with chilled, frozen and store cupboard items all in one place.

There are also hundreds of new products.

New technology has been installed in and around the supermarket, including new digital signage and displays to "inspire" customers and make the shop easier to navigate.

A Sainsbury's spokeswoman said the aim is to help customers better focus their visits on different parts of the store based on the type of shop they want to do.

"At Sainsbury’s, we’re passionate about providing good food for all of us and it’s with this commitment in mind, along with insightful feedback from our customers, that we’ve made these exciting changes in-store.”
