"An intriguing opportunity" has arisen as a former school that was most recently an art gallery is one of two Grade II Listed Buildings to hit the housing market.

Both properties, located on the High Street of Broadway, are being sold jointly by property agencies Savills and KBW on behalf of the HW Keil Estate.

The Old School House, which was constructed using Cotswold ashlar with tile and stone slate roofs, was established in 1856 and extended in 1869.

It houses a spire topped by a weather vane and a clock created to honour Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1887.

Known as ‘The Dummy’, the clock is an empty case, with the mechanism inside the building.

Initially a school, it was converted into a library in 1914, then later into an art gallery, which is now unoccupied.

The second property being sold is Eadburgha House, located between The Old School House and Tudor House on the High Street's south side.

The 17th-century building comprises three floors, and features bow windows, an original fireplace and wood panelling on its retail ground floor, along with part flagstone floors.

An open plan ancillary accommodation, a kitchen and two WC facilities are on its upper floors.

Both buildings fall under the Planning Use Class 'E', which includes retail, restaurant, office, and financial & professional services.

Associate director in the development team at Savills in Birmingham, Chris Torbett, handling the buildings' sale in collaboration with KBW, said: "The availability of Eadburgha House and Old School House, in what is a highly prominent and central location within the village of Broadway, represents an intriguing opportunity for interested parties."

He further stated: "Broadway is a popular tourist destination within the Cotswolds, renowned as much for its honey-coloured stone properties as its art galleries, antique shops, museums, hotels and tea rooms, with it widely being regarded as the ‘jewel of the Cotswolds’ only adding to the huge potential pf these properties.

"Given these factors and how rare a sale their availability represents, we are anticipating a high level of interest in both properties."
