SHOCKED shoppers and workers heard a loud bang and then rushed to help as they realised a car had crashed into Domino's Pizza.

Staff from Iconic Hairdressing ran to the aid of injured people after a crash on Avon Street in Evesham.

Seven people were left in the care of the ambulance service with two taken to hospital after the crash at 12.30pm on Wednesday (August 9).

Salon owner Gareth Martin brought out a chair for an elderly woman and rang ambulance services.

Eyewitnesses saw four police cars, one ambulance and a fire engine at the scene.

A woman who works near Domino's said: "The car went flying back and there was a rather loud bang and everyone rushed out.

"The ambulance was there."

Town councillor Tim Haines said: "I was very concerned.

"I didn't see the crash, but I saw an elderly woman sitting on a chair by the pavement being comforted.

"I was concerned because the front of a car was smashed up and the window had been smashed."

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Evesham and Broadway Fire Stations attended the High Street with supporting appliances not required.

"A car had hit a restaurant with two other vehicles involved.

“The vehicles were made safe and the incident was left with the police by the final crew at 1.49pm.”

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said a man and a woman were taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

They said: "We were called at around 12.40pm to reports of an RTC on High Street in Evesham.

"Three ambulances and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found one car had come off the road and crashed into a building.

"The driver, a man, and a female passenger were treated for injuries not believed to be serious by ambulance staff and were both conveyed to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further treatment."
