CASH was stolen from a till at a High Street shop in Bourton-on-the-Water.

At about 1.30pm a man went into a High Street store and told the assistant that his mother had left her bag in the shop earlier. The assistant went to the back of the shop and upstairs to look for the bag but it was not there.

She later found that money had been stolen from the till.

It is understood that the same man went into two other shops saying that he was looking for his mother's bag, though there are no reports of any money being missing there.

Police have issued two CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

The man is described as being white, aged between 35 and 50 years old, about 6ft tall and of slim build.

He was wearing a grey fleece jacket and dark trousers. He was also wearing glasses.

Officers would like to speak to the man in the photograph as they think he may be able to help clarify what happened in the shop.

He, or anyone else with information, is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101 or email 101@gloucestershire.pnn.police.uk quoting incident 216 of 8 February.
