TELEVISION star judge Amanda Holden stopped by for valet and cupcake at a charity car wash held in Chipping Norton.

Staff from the Midcounties Co-operative store, in Albion Street, held the car wash to raise cash for the Lawrence Home Nursing Team, which provides at home care for more than 500 patients with terminally illnesses in the Cotswolds - allowing them to enjoy their last days in familiar surroundings.

During the event the staff, and volunteers, washed 50 cars and held a bake sale for shoppers to enjoy treats while their cars were cleaned.

The visit from the popular Britain's Got Talent judge, who reportedly lives in the Cotswolds, created excitement and brought a boost to the fundraisers, who overall managed to raise more than £300.

The activity is one of a number planned as part of the Midcounties Co-operative's strategy, which aims to make a meaningful difference to people and good causes throughout the local region.

The Lawrence Home Nursing Team is the Midcounties Co-operative's official charity partner and after the additional fundraisers in the next few months, the total amount raised will be awarded to the charity later in the year.

Stewart Howe, leadership team ambassador for Chipping Norton at the Midcounties Co-operative, said: “The car wash was a great day which saw £300 being raised to contribute to our donations.

"A visit from Amanda Holden also stirred excitement from passers-by, creating good publicity for the fundraiser.

"It is always rewarding to see fundraising efforts make a real impact on local communities."
