A TRIP down memory lane was the order of the day for residents of Henry Cornish Care Centre, in Chipping Norton, when they enjoyed a day out in Bourton.

The perfect setting alongside the Windrush River made for a leisurely few hours of sharing intimate childhood memories and discussions of how different the village was more than 80 years ago.

Peggy Mcleod, said: “Things have changed since I was here in the 1930s. It is definitely a lot busier than it was back then, but I thoroughly enjoyed the day.”

Bernard Lyford-Smith added: “My Aunt used to live here and we came to visit her back in the 1930s too. Maybe we were here at the same time.”

Engaging with the locals was an added bonus and the local tearoom The Chestnuts reserved a table where the guests enjoyed homemade scones and tea.

After this it was time for a stroll by the river where the ducks and ducklings were enjoying the summer weather.

George Freeman, said: “I really enjoyed the ducks on the water; it was a lovely day and the weather’s perfect. It is nice to do something different.”

The trip to Bourton is the first of many more outings on the annual events and activities calendar for the care home.
