A RECORD number of entries have already been received for this year's Moreton Show indicating it is course to be the biggest yet.

It is one of Britain’s biggest one-day agricultural shows and hosts the National Poll Hereford Cattle Show and the National Show of Cotswold Sheep.

For horses in particular, the Moreton Show is an important fixture on the equestrian calendar. Many of the show jumping classes are qualifiers for the Horse of the Year Show, the end-of-season spectacular at Birmingham’s NEC.

Organisers are reporting an increase in the numbers of cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and horses entered for this year’s show. The number of goats has doubled while entries for the pig section have almost trebled.

Lynne Parks, the livestock secretary said the increase in numbers was down to Moreton Show’s growing reputation. She added: “Moreton Show is increasingly being talked about as the best one-day show in the country and the buzz is getting better and better.”

Moreton Show is also promoting the Future Farmers’ Initiative, with the next generation of livestock farmers competing in the prestigious Junior Handler competitions in every section.

In addition to the livestock, Moreton Show has two attraction rings, and aims to show the best in the best in farming, food, fashion and fun for everyone.
