A COTSWOLD District councillor who stood for election as an independent councillor has joined the controlling Conservative group.
Cllr Sue Coakley, who represents the Kempsford and Lechlade ward, said: "Since being elected in 2011, I have generally found myself supporting most of the Conservative initiatives.
" I agree with the way they have kept council tax levels down whilst also protecting valuable frontline services.
" At the same time they are doing whatever they can to help the towns and villages in the district.
"Being closer to the decision-making process will, I hope, benefit the residents of the ward I represent."
Leader, Cllr Lynden Stowe, said: "It’s been clear to us that Sue is doing a first class job representing Lechlade, Kempsford and the surrounding areas.
"Her community-spirit and attention to detail are key qualities which I hope we can use for the benefit of the wider district."
The Conservative group now holds 29 seats on the district council. There are 11 Lib Dem councillors and four independents.
