A CONCERT which took place in Church Westcote near Bourton to celebrate the life of a life-long resident has raised £417.

The New Wychwood Singers, conducted by Robin Martin-Oliver, sang in St Mary's Church, last Friday in memory of Fred Hunt who was born in Westcote and lived in the village all his life until his death on March 3.

The choir sang a varied programme with well received solos from four individual performers in the concert which raised money for Stow-based Kate's Home Nursing.

Mr Hunt was well known as a wonderful vegetable gardener and for his skills with dry stone walling and several of the walls in Westcote bear the legend 'Built by Fred Hunt'.

He was also a lifelong supporter of the Heythrop Hunt.
