THE annual duck races were a sell out success in Kingham as about 500 people turned out for the popular Bank Holiday Monday event.

Now in its fifth year, the event organised by Rotary Club of Kingham and Wychwoods raised about £2,000 for Chipping Norton-based Lawrence Home Nursing and Riding for Disabled.

The rotary club gave out £500 worth of prizes at the event held at the Mill House Hotel, in Kingham, with the final winner, Kingham Primary School student Loxie Chiles, of Oddington, taking home £100.

Secretary Paul Jackson said this year was the best ever.

"The weather was kind and the crowds were the highest ever with 40 winners," he said. "We sold out of everything. Lots of kids enjoyed themselves which was fantastic."
