A MUCH-loved coffee shop in Chipping Campden has been given a facelift after it was taken over by a new owner.

The Campden Coffee Company, in the Old Silk Mill, Sheep Street, officially re-opened on January 11 after a refurbishment.

New owner Rebecca Mitchell, who recently moved to Campden, took over the running of the shop at the end of November.

The 34-year-old, who used to work as a primary school teacher for eight years in London, Vietnam and Amsterdam, said it was a dream come true when the coffee shop came up for sale.

"It was a nice job but I wanted to move back to England and wanted to have a cafe," she said. "I used to do a lot of baking. I really like creating an environment, I spent months looking for the crockery and the furniture."

The coffee shop, which was awarded a Four Cup Accreditation in the Beverage Standards Association 2013 Awards last October under its previous ownership, was set up four years ago.

Customers will be greeted by the friendly resident dog, Fred, and can expect a similar menu with a few additions including paninis and sausage rolls.

"The regulars have been really positive," she added. "It seems to be quite popular. They really like the changes. It's going really well."

Opening hours are 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and 10 to 4.30pm Saturday and Sunday.
