A SHIPSTON man has been arrested on suspicion of serious assault following an incident over the weekend.
Police arrested a 22-year-old man from the town in relation to the assault which happened inside or near a pub in Church Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Following the incident a man was treated for a deep gash to his head and a suspected dislocated shoulder after he was taken by ambulance to Warwick Hospital.
He later required surgery to the head injury at University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire.
The incident was reported to police at 4.20am the same day and the man was arrested at 5.45am and taken into custody.
Following questioning, the man was released on conditional bail with strict conditions pending further police enquiries.
