A COTSWOLD man has taken on the Triathlon World Championships for the second time.

Ross Kent, who is from Notgrove, Bourton, took part in the event in London’s Hyde Park on September 13.

The 28-year-old, who came eighth in his age group in the event last year when it was held in Auckland, competed in the 25 to 29-year-old age group again against 96 people - 25 from the UK.

He finished 29th in his group and 158th of 1,079 competitors overall.

Mr Kent said: “I was pleased with my own performance, finishing 29th from 96 in the sprint distance 25 to 29 age group category.

"It was pretty tough competition with some seriously fast blokes out there. If anything my bike let me down, I need to find another gear from somewhere.

“Looking at the results it equates to 158th from 1,079 age group competitors but this doesn’t include the elite competitors, for example the Brownlee brothers or junior and under 23 elites.

“It was a fun weekend, particularly as we were in London.”
