BOURTON-on-the-Water Parish Council has hit out at claims it has already decided to support plans for 148 new homes in the village.

Resident Christine Mitchell accused the parish council of supporting the proposals put forward by Bloor Homes to develop the site to the north of Roman Way, even though the plans were only submitted to Cotswold District Council (CDC) a few weeks ago and no official decision has been taken.

Speaking during the public session at this month’s parish council meeting, Ms Mitchell said: “Is the parish council aware that this application implies the parish council is in support of this development?

“It appears the parish council has given a nod they were happy with.”

But Chairman Bryan Sumner refuted the claims.

“We have not determined how we should answer this application at the moment,” he said. “We’ve had a lot of discussions about it and we’ve had some talks with Bloor Homes and also the planning department of CDC.

“We have all the information we need and should be determining our response this month. We wouldn’t go to make our minds up about anything until we’ve seen these papers.

“There are no pre-determinations on this application as far as we’re concerned.”

Members decided all parish councillors would attend the parish council planning meetings last Wednesday and on Wednesday, February 27, to form a response to the development.
