A new era for Moreton's post office
MORETON’S Post Office is set to step into the modern era with the opening of a new High Street branch.
As reported in The Journal last year, Warner’s Budgens came to the rescue of the Post Office which was struggling with rising costs and council tax.
The shop, currently on New Road, will close on March 7 and will relocate to its new premises in the High Street store, opening for business on the following day. It will have three dedicated Post Office counters at the rear of the store.
Customers will benefit from extended opening hours including weekends.
Tony Jones, Post Office regional network manager for Wales and West of England, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Moreton and we are confident that this will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
“This modernisation is part of a three-year investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see around 6,000 branches converting to new-style branches. This investment makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
The new opening hours will be from 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
