HELPING everyone enjoy a safe and happy Christmas this year is the aim of West Oxfordshire District Council (WODC).
The community safety and licensing team will be distributing its We Serve Drinks Not Drunks leaflets and lollipops to licensed premises in Chipping Norton as part of the ongoing Nightsafe initiative.
The lollipops will be given to drinkers to help stabilise their blood sugar levels before they head for home. Council officers will also be carrying out test purchases of alcohol by underage customers at various outlets in the region.
These latest moves will help to prevent alcoholrelated crime and disorder in West Oxfordshire during the festivities.
Bill Oddy, head of community services at WODC, said: “We wish everyone and happy and safe Christmas – one that will be enjoyed and remembered for all the right reasons.”
