Evesham 213-9, Attock 149-9.

EVESHAM continued their good form and looked on course for a comfortable home victory until the weather intervened to save Attock from a heavy defeat.

For the second week running, Evesham just failed to claim the last wicket to gain maximum points in Birmingham and District League Division One.

Attock won the toss and inserted the home side. Openers Matt Snyman (4) and Tom Kohler-Cadmore (8) failed to negotiate the opening attack of Junaid Khan and Safraz Ali, who reduced the hosts to 19-2.

George Rhodes and Ian Suckling put a cautious stand together before the latter (24) was caught at slip.

When Joe Dodd (3) fell cheaply, the home side were in trouble at 72-4.

Paul Thomas joined Rhodes put on a stand of 114 to take the score to 186 before the latter (84) was bowled by Ali.

Tom Underhill (4) and Cadmore (3) fell cheaply as the visitors came back into the game.

But Thomas was caught on the long-on boundary for 43.

Sam O’Neill took the score past 200 with a quick-fire 18 not out as his side recorded a total of total of 213-9.

In reply, Evesham’s Chris Harwood produced the first breakthrough when he trapped Mohammed Khan lbw for 16.

Attock were in desparate trouble at 71-7 but rain brought the teams off after 31 overs.

When they returned, 15 overs had been lost to the weather, leaving Evesham with nine overs to claim the last three wickets to secure a well deserved win.

Underhill took two of the remaining three wickets but the visitors’ last pair hung on to deny Evesham.
