League One’s two most in-form sides shared the spoils as Huddersfield and Luton drew 1-1 at Accu Stadium.

Leaders Huddersfield controlled much of the first half, and Cameron Humphreys twice went close to scoring direct from inswinging corners: the first hit the bar, the next tipped over by James Shea.

But it was Luton who took the lead on 40 minutes as Huddersfield failed to deal with a long pass up the right to Jamie Donley, with Jordan Clark ultimately finishing to the bottom corner off Kasey Palmer’s knockdown.

Huddersfield came out at a higher tempo after the break, and within four minutes of the restart they had their equaliser, Derensili Sanches Fernandes crossing for Joe Taylor to volley home his tenth goal of the season against his former club.

The game became attritional as both teams tired, however, and both sides had to settle for a point.

That extends the Terriers’ lead over Stockport to three points, while Luton move up to third place and just two points shy of second.
