Lucian Brockman has been named in the England Under-19 Invitational squad to face South Africa later this month.

The Worcestershire pacer will feature in back-to-back matches at Loughborough’s Hazlegrave Ground—a clash against the formal England U19 side on Friday, June 26, followed by a fixture against South Africa A on Saturday, June 27.

Elliot Wilson, senior academy coach at Worcestershire, said: "We are all delighted to see Lucian receive this recognition, it is also recognition of the pathway and people who have supported his development.

"From Old Swinford Hospital School, Pedmore and Himley Cricket Clubs, through to family and the staff here at New Road, it is fantastic to see a player progress to the next level.

"Having been called up last winter and then unfortunately missing out through injury, it is particularly pleasing to see Lucian earn another opportunity.

"He is an exciting cricketer to watch, and we all hope he embraces this platform to show people who he is and what he is all about."

Wilson also praised those who have helped the 16-year-old rebound from injury and return to form.

He said: "The work that Stuart Bull and Adam Taylor have done with him since October has been first-class, and he arrives in this environment in a really strong position."

Brockman, who returned from injury earlier this year, has been in standout form for Worcestershire’s academy and second XI.

He was previously invited to join the England U19 set-up during the winter but was forced to withdraw due to a stress reaction injury.

Brockman has been part of the Worcestershire Academy since he was 15 and developed his early cricketing skills at Old Swinford Hospital School and with Pedmore and Himley Cricket Clubs.

Brockman joins a squad that includes Jack Auld (Essex), Jacob Blades (Glamorgan), Robbie Bowman (Durham), Jake Green (Derbyshire), Jack Hope-Bell (Glamorgan), and Omaris Khan (Warwickshire), Theo Lamey (Somerset), Zak Mawdsley (Durham), Jack Parish (Essex), Owen Smith (Yorkshire), Bradley Sylvester (Yorkshire) and Luke Symington (Durham).

England U19s Invitational Squad schedule:

Saturday, June 27 – Warm-up match, South Africa A v Invitational U19s XI; Hazlegrave Ground, Loughborough
