FOUR runners from Bourton Roadrunners Club took part in the Stroud Beer Race at Minchinhampton last week as part of the Gloucestershire Road Race series.

Noted for its undulating three-lap course around Minchihampton Common, Darren Long was the first club member to complete the 7.2 miles in 46 minutes and 56 seconds, finishing 2nd MV50.

Next was Maxine Emes in 55:55, who was 1st LV40. Gillian Carrick and Liz Hulcup tracked each other all the way round, with Gillian (67:32) just pipping Liz (67:35) at the end, with Liz gaining 2nd LV70.

Meanwhile, Gary and Steph Holton, together with Rebecca Townsend and Catherine Wheeler, took part in the challenging Ommtrail race event, taking in the fells around Grasmere in the Lake District National Park.

This event not only tests participants’ stamina, but their ability to navigate and utilise their Nordic walking skills. Gary finished 30th; while Steph, Rebecca and Catherine finished 34th.
