Bishops Cleeve ran out 2-1 winners away at Lydney Town on Tuesday night to further establish their dominance in the Hellenic League Premier.

The three points pushed them nine points clear at the top of the table, despite having a game in hand over second placed Corsham.

Cleeve took the lead early leave through Jack Watts who tucked away Blaine Waughs' low cross after just ten minutes.

Lydney did get themselves back into the game however, with Charlie Powell bringing the hosts level after 25 minutes.

Cleeve would take the lead again in the second half with Watts once again getting on the score sheet, bagging what would ultimately prove to be the winner for Cleeve, with Jordan Annear picking up the assist.

Following the goal, treatment was needed for Lydney goalkeeper Richard Thomas after he went down injured but was deemed okay to play on for the rest of the match after a lengthy stoppage.

That would prove to be all for the game, with Cleeve taking another big step towards winning the title and promotion into Step 4.

Cheltenham Saracens saw their game against Moreton Rangers called off on Saturday with Storm Eunice leaving the pitch at Moreton in an unsafe condition, the game has been rescheduled for March 1.

Saracens weren’t the storms only victims this weekend, with Bourton Rovers also having their game called off, their next fixture is against Littleton on February 26.
