MORETON Rangers ended their year with yet another heavy defeat at they were beaten 7-0 at Hellenic League Division One leaders Worcester Raiders at Sixways last Wednesday.

New signing Jordan Murphy scored just 12 minutes into his debut with a well taken finish and Conor Deards slotted home from Okera Simmonds' square ball to double the lead before Simmonds curled a sublime effort into the top corner to make it 3-0 at the break.

Rich Smith came on as a half-time substitute for the injured Murphy and added two more either side of Deards' second before the replacement striker squared for Kai Mahon to compete the rout in the final stages.

It was always going to be a tough ask for Moreton, who arrived at Sixways without an away league win all season and have already lost 16 matches in the division, leaving them just seven points off the bottom of the table.

They have played at least three games more than everyone else, and if results go against them, they could well be bottom of the pile.

Following the Christmas break, they face play-off chasing FC Stratford at home to start the new year.

Rangers will be hoping to kick start a run of results that will pull them away from those sides beneath them, who are hot on their heels.
