WORCESTER City's FA Vase penalty shootout exit was particularly painful for captain Craig Jones who suffered a nasty cut to the head.

The City centre-half, who is also a successful amateur boxer, got injured during the fifth-round replay at Bromsgrove's Victoria Ground which ended 1-1 before the lower-ranked visitors won 5-4 on spot-kicks.

Jones was damaged during an aerial duel but the tough competitor returned to the pitch Terry Butcher-style after being bandaged up on the sidelines.

And he admitted on Twitter: "Head doesn’t hurt me half as much as the outcome of the game.

"Thought the Worcester City boys deserved more but that’s the game sometimes."

Jones, who previously made more than 230 appearances for Bromsgrove Sporting before joining City last summer, joked: "Leave football, tell your kids to take up netball or snooker."
