EVESHAM United swooped for two loan signings but they could not help to turn the tide in Saturday’s clash with Cinderford Town.

The Robins slumped to a 4-0 home defeat for their fourth BetVictor Southern League Division One South loss in a row.

Manager Carl Abbott hoped to help revive their flagging top-five challenge with the experienced Calvin Dinsley returning from higher-ranked Swindon Supermarine and forward Jamie Lucas joining from Halesowen Town on one-month loan deals.

But Evesham have now gone five games without a win with Cinderford moving closer in the table after their comfortable victory.

Sixteen-year-old Callum Wood put the Foresters ahead on 28 minutes with a strike from outside the box.

Blaine Waugh made it 2-0 right on half-time by tapping in from close range.

Former Evesham loan forward Aaron Basford added a third on 67 minutes.

It was all over as Liam Angel made it 4-0 with just three minutes remaining at the Jubilee Stadium.

Dinsley, 29, and Lucas, 24, went straight into the Robins’ starting line-up.

Midfielder Dinsley signed for Marine last February from Hereford FC where he had enjoyed winning two championship titles after joining from Gloucester City in 2017.

He has also played for Kidderminster Harriers, Redditch United and Stourport Swifts.

Former Bristol Rovers prospect Lucas signed for Halesowen from Weston-super-Mare last May.

He has also turned out for Woking, Boreham Wood and Bath City.

The Robins look for a much-needed improvement but face one of their biggest tests of the season at third-placed Winchester City in the league on Saturday (3pm).

Evesham: Robertson, Roberts, Page, Paddock, Franklin, Cresswell, Tonge, Bragoli, Lucas, Chilton, Dinsley. Subs: Staten, Maslen-Jones, Chamberlain, Smikle, McMahon.
